Zoning 101 Tour Kicks Off at Dallas City Hall

The City of Dallas launched the Zoning 101 Tour with How Dallas Takes Shape, an interactive experience at Dallas City Hall designed to make zoning easier to understand and more connected to everyday life.

Residents moved through learning stations, asked questions, shared their own experiences and talked directly with Planning & Development staff about how zoning shapes housing, businesses, transportation, gathering places and neighborhoods across Dallas.

Michael Wade with the City of Dallas Planning & Development Department said one of the most encouraging parts of the launch was seeing new people step into the conversation:

“It was encouraging to see new faces and new voices taking an interest in what’s happening around town.”

The conversation continues Thursday, August 27 from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the Dallas College Workforce Center at RedBird with Getting Around Dallas. The next stop will explore how zoning affects where homes, jobs and services are located — and how those decisions can shape how people move around the city.
